Homepage of Google in the Early 2000's

Posted by Unknown On 10:25

THE "CLASSIC" Google LOGO AND USED TILL TODAY
Early 2000's -

After  the search engine began to grow even more larger in

both size of the indexed pages and the economy in the

Google.Inc had a plan to have a change in their user

interface that was mainly its logo . Having getting many

inputs from both their employees and others , the owners

got themselves confused whether the logo be changed to a

more colorful , graphically designed logo or just go with the

"OLD" classic style logo again . Sergey and Larry spent days

sipping coffee and wondering whether it would be good

enough to go with the ideas of others or do what they

wanted to do .

Sergey and Larry went with the thoughts of their hearts and

thought of keeping the old , classic logo of Google to be the

same but with a different touch on it . They had a strong feeling

that the simplicity of their logo would surely attract plenty of crowd

and that making it more graphic oriented search engine was

never their aim .

It is rightly said

"Never judge a book by its cover

and after all the capacity and power of Google can and should be

never judged by its Logo .

The Google homepage of November 11 1998 from the Wayback Machine; 25 million pages. Zounds!
The Google homepage of November 11, 1998 from the Wayback Machine; 25 million pages
In 1998 ,

The Search Engine was ready by the Fall of that year and both Larry Page and Sergey Brin the

founders of the Search Engine had no clue about what it it should look like to the users .

Having no idea about HTML or the markup language , both developed a simple yet "Appealing"

logo for the Search Engine which had indexed about 25 million webpages .

Having developed the simple logo , the website was made live by them on November the 11th

in 1998 . This simple yet appealing logo was the eye catcher to the front end users of the first ,

one of its kind search engine .

Page and Brin originally nicknamed their new search engine "BackRub", because the system
checked backlinks to estimate the importance of a site.Eventually, they changed the name to
Google, originating from a misspelling of the word "googol", the number one followed by one
hundred zeros, which was picked to signify that the search engine was intended to provide
large quantities of information . Originally, Google ran under Stanford University's website, with
the domainsgoogle.stanford.edu and z.stanford.edu.

The domain name for Google was registered on September 15, 1997, and the company was
incorporated on September 4, 1998. It was based in a friend's (Susan Wojcicki) garage
in Menlo Park, California. Craig Silverstein, a fellow PhD student at Stanford, was hired as the
 first employee .

This was then the just begining of the change in the search engine history of the Internet ! !
